We Are Opening Soon For You – With Changes To Keep You Safe

We are beyond ready to get back to work and see everyone that we have missed so much!  Much has changed since we saw you last. We want to update with you on our office, its measured re-opening, and the steps we are taking to ensure we do everything possible to keep our patients and team healthy.

While our office has been closed, Dr. Chen and her team have been keeping up with the optometric and manufacturing industry leaders, to craft rational, evidence-based guidelines for restarting our optometry practice.  This wealth of information is continually changing, Dr. Chen and her team are as up-to-date as possible.

To that end, we will be doing a “soft” re-opening on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. We will be following rigorous scheduling protocols and office measures to ensure the safety and well-being of you, our patients and the team members at Olympic Village Eye Care.

To ensure the safety of our patients and staff, our office procedures have temporarily changed and will include the following:

Appointments:

  • There will be a limit to the number of patient appointments per day.  Appointments will be booked with 15-minutes gap between patients to allow sanitization procedures to happen.
  • Some minor exams and follow-ups will be done virtually via a PHIPA-compliant video-chat platform when possible.
  • Our staff will be contacting you to reschedule your pre-COVID cancelled appointments. We have a very accurate and comprehensive list of every appointment canceled, including the date and time.
  • We will be taking patients by appointments only and our door will be locked during business hours. If you are looking to purchase eye wear, we ask you to kindly book an appointment with us over the phone or email ahead of time.  If you would like to make purchase of any other products such as contact lenses or eye drops ect. but don’t have an appointment with us, you may place an order over the phone or on our Eyecare eShop website at www.shopeyecare.com. We will email you when your orders are ready for pickup.
  • We are implementing curbside pickup for all orders.  No appointment is needed for order pickup. Please call or text us at 778-807-9139 when you arrive, we will bring your order out to you by the door.

Office visits:

  • A day before your appointment,  you will receive an email appointment reminder which includes a link for COVID Screening Assessment.  Please fill it out prior to your appointment time.  Any question indicating recent exposure to someone with COVID-19 or having signs and symptoms of the same will be asked to reschedule for another time after 14 days quarantine requirement.
  • When you arrive for your appointment, please stay in your car or wait in the patio area.  We are introducing a new text message system, whereby you will be asked to text our office at 778-807-9139 upon your arrival nearby the office, our staff will advise you when the patient is able to enter the office.
  • Only the patient that has an appointment with us will be allowed to enter the office.  The only exception for this will be for very young patients.  Of those, only one parent/caregiver may accompany the patient.  No other family members or friends will be allowed inside.
  • Please bring your own mask and wear it to your appointment.  Provincial guidelines for physical distancing and wearing masks in businesses continue, so bring the mask you have been using.  If you do not have your own, we will provide one at $1.00 each.
  • Your temperature will be taken by our staff using a touchless thermometer.  If your temperature is over 37.8°C (100°F), you will be asked to reschedule for another time after the 14 days quarantine requirement.
  • Maintain the 2-meter physical distancing guidelines when in the office until seated in the exam chair.

Other things we are doing:

  • Our team will take the temperatures of every team member, including our doctor, immediately upon arrival at work everyday. They will also do the COVID Risk Assessment that our patients are required to do and will do so every day.
  • Our doctors and staff will be wearing face masks and safety goggles/face shields while helping you.
  • Plexiglass shields are installed at our reception area and dispensing area.
  • We have equipped with numbers of air purifiers in the office to provide multiple levels of cleaning including both True HEPA™, which captures up to 99.99% of airborne particles as well as a UV-C lamp to enhance germ-killing.
  • Examination surfaces are thoroughly disinfected between each patient.
  • We will sanitize frames after a patient has contact with them.
  • The exam room and pretesting instruments will be disinfected after every patient.
  • “Touchpoints” within the clinic such as doorknobs, counters, keyboards, phones, credit card machines, pens, & patio bench outside the office and will be disinfected as often as possible.

We are very grateful of everyone of our patients.  You are the life-force of our practice, this is why we are taking your safety very seriously.  We would ask for your patience and understanding.  We are looking forward to seeing you for your appointment.

If you have any questions, please call the office directly at 604-671-0690. Thank you and have a great day.
